Education System of Czech Republic
The education system of Czech Republic is advanced and easy for the citizens. Education here is free and compulsory from ages 6 to 15. The state also pays the health insurance for students up to the age of 26 years.
Czech Republic follows a system of degrees in education. These degrees are just levels. There are four degrees in a Czech education – pre-primary, primary or elementary, secondary and university.
- Pre-primary (Age 2 to 5): This is the preschool education of a child. It is neither compulsory nor free of cost.
- Primary or Elementary (Age 6 to 15): It is the basic education of school. The curriculum is general academic and covers most of the necessary topics of education in school. It is compulsory and also free of cost in public schools.
- Secondary (4 years): It is also called gymnasium. The general academic curriculum is continued and further technical or focused education for university level is provided.
- University: In this degree or level, the higher education of bachelors, masters and doctorate is given.
The higher education is the highest level of education system in Czech Republic. It is a part of the Czech society for many years. Emperor Charles IV founded a university in Prague in the year 1348 which is regarded the most ancient university of Central Europe and is now called the Charles University. Continuous student assessments are done which is dependent on the field of study. The assessments are mostly done on a system of credits or points.
