Dubai was an oil-based country. The main economy of Dubai revolved around all the oil companies. But with the passage of years, Dubai government realized that the development of their country cannot and shouldn’t be restricted to one sector. But the diversity of projects should be started within the country to attract tourists and expat and natives of UAE should also be interested in investing more and more within the country instead of doing so in any foreign country. These developmental projects helped boost Dubai economy and value of land has also gone up in recent past.

To continue with once rapid and now gradual growth of Dubai, new and better development programs are introduced by the government of yearly basis. Hence, strengthening the economy even more and making Dubai axis of tourism. These developmental programs have also helped take Dubai fastest growing country title among other countries around the world.

Here is a list of big development project started in Dubai;

  1. DUBAI WATER CANAL

Six meters deep and 8.5 meters scaffold shaped bridges big enough to let pass yachts and marine craft. This is Dubai’s grandest mega project and it was functioning in 2016, three years after it started.  These bridges are pedestrian bridges which and electric elevators and escalators on both sides. However, one bridge is left on a concrete surface to facilitate cyclists.

This is $545 million project and will also include a strip mall, 4 hotels, and 450 lunchrooms.

2. MUSEUM OF THE FUTURE

This museum is built focusing on Emirate’s evolution in mind but it holds many contemporary and recent art pieces from around the world. It is a circular shaped building with an estimated cost of $200m. It started functioning in 2017. It is not only a house to many tourists but this museum offers advanced art courses and workshops. It was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai.

3. JEWEL OF THE CREEK

It is $16 million project and started in 2017. It is located between Al Maktoum Bridge, Baniyas Road, and Floating Bridge, covering 123,955 square meters area. This project includes an asymmetrical waterfront complex, a 19- story apartment building, office towers, 2 luxury hotels, a rollicking center and a gathering hall with a ballroom, marina, and number of shops.

4. AL HABTOOR CITY

This project was managed by Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide finished in 2016 with a total cost of $3 billion. This amazing project is constructed on Sheikh Zayed Road on a 10 million square plot and have dining places, French-inspired gardens, Water Theater and world’s first Bentley café.

5. DEIRA ISLANDS

This project features 4 islands, waterfront city of 15.3 square km, new hotels, apartments, marinas, extended shopping center, Arabic style night market and a large theater.

This project will be completed by a quarter of 2018, costing $150 million and will be a hub for many hotels and resorts.

6. MBR CITY- DISTRICT ONE

Mohammad Bin Rashid Maktoum (MBR) city completed the villas from a first and second phase in mid-2016-17(mid). This project cost is $10million. District one covers 1,110 acres land and includes 7km long Crystal Lagoons (swimming, kayaking, and other water activities), it is world’s largest artificial beach and 14km boardwalk with an 8km path for cycling.

District one project is spread over 440 hectares of which more than 60% area is dedicated to green and open spaces.

The other part of the project which is to be completed by 2018-19 has entertainment, retail and hospitality services for the visitors and tourists.

7. DUBAI AMUSEMENT PARKS

This project was completed in 2016 at an approximate cost of $1.03 billion. Motion gate, Bollywood parks, Legoland Dubai and 60,000 sq. feet Bollywood-themed performances.

8. DUBAI FRAME

This is 150 meters high and is frame-shaped, as the name indicates. This frame stretched between Star Gate games to Zabeel Park and is $43.5 million project.

9. BLUE WATER ISLAND

This is one of the biggest visitor spot, situated near Jumeirah Beach Residence. This is Dubai Eye- world’s tallest Ferris wheel. This project also includes retailer market, residency, and entertainment areas.

10. ALADDIN CITY

It is a city straight out of Aladdin and Sindbad stories. It will 3 towers with commercial and hotel space and spreads to 450 meters. It will have bridges with moving floors to connect to towers and more than enough parking spaces.

Completion date and total cost of this project are yet to be announced.

11. MALL OF THE WORLD

This will be the house to the world’s largest indoor theme park, covered with glass and will have a dome with opening facility during the winter season, around 100 hotels, fitness clubs, serviced apartments, and climate control arcade. It will be even bigger than Dubai Mall. It is going to be an indoor city and a shopping complex.
