Dubai’s impressive skyline is filled with innovate architecture that includes breath-taking structures that light up the city when the sun goes down. If you are planning a holiday to the luxurious city and your love breath-taking architecture, here are three of Dubai’s impressive architectural feats that you should see while you’re there:
MINILAND
Although located at a theme park for children and being constructed out of LEGO® bricks, we have included MINILAND – which is housed at LEGOLAND® Dubai – because it is the very first indoor air-conditioned MINILAND and it is impressive nonetheless. This jaw-dropping miniature city includes Dubai’s iconic skyline, as well as numerous landmarks from around the Middle East. The interactive area is made up of a whopping 20 million MEGO® bricks and is a space where visitors can bring each of the models to life at the touch of a button. What’s more, for those who want to try their hand at building something incredible, there is a Build a City feature that includes a 10 metre play table that includes hundreds of white LEGO® bricks that enables them to build and create an every changing city skyline of their own.
The Palm Jumeirah
The Palm Jumeirah – is an artificial archipelago that was constructed using land reclamation. Completed in 2008, Palm Jumeirah is the smallest and the original of three islands that were constructed. Measuring 5 kilometres squared, the impressive artificial island added an additional 560 hectares of land and 78.6 kilometres to the country’s existing 72 kilometres of coastline. A whopping 40 000 employees worked on the project each and every day, turning what was 94 million cubic metres of sand and 7 million tons of rock in to a breath-taking artificial island that would be home to beach resorts, marinas, a monorail and retail and commercial units.
Dubai Fountain
The world’s largest dancing fountain in the world, measuring in at 275 metres long, the Dubai Fountain is illuminated by 6 600 light and 25 colour projectors, all of which create a visual show for viewers that includes 1 000 abstract attractions. What’s even more amazing about this incredible fountain, is the fact that its beam of light can be seen not only from 20 miles away, but it is visible from space. The fountain can spray a whopping 83 000 litres of water with water jets that shoot water as high as 152 metres in the air, all while being completely in sync with a number of classical, Arabic and world music numbers that continue to wow the crowds that gather day-after-day, night-after-night to watch the spectacular shows.
These are just three of many architectural feats that call Dubai their home, with the city being home to so many more, including one of the largest malls in the world – The Dubai Mall that is home to the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo and a luxury hotel – as well as the world’s tallest building – the Burj Khalifa, making it one of the most visually appealing and spectacular cities to visit in the world for those who are interested in architecture.
