7 solutions to remove grease stains

Greasy and oily splatters are grouped among the hardest stains. You frequently encounter with them while performing household work. No matter how careful you act, you can’t avoid facing this mess.  Whether you are cooking or frying items or you are working under the car and you have simply forgotten to take out the lip balm from your pocket, all of these activities will end up bruising your clothes with grease. The worst part is that washing with normal detergent does not completely remove them. However, these stains can be efficiently treated and removed after using several household products.

 Cornstarch

It can be easily found in every kitchen cabinet. In order to clean the spots, sprinkle cornstarch onto a soft cloth and gently rub it over the spot, until oil disappears. This inexpensive material can efficiently remove such stains even from the carpet. All you need is to sprinkle it over the surface and let it sit for several hours, complete cleaning with a vacuum.

Baby Powder

It is another low-cost solution to handle splatters on clothes. Sprinkle baby powder directly over the surface you want to clean. Start dabbing with a powder puff. Rub it well and remove any excess with brush. Repeat this process until the mark is completely vanished away.

Newspaper

Newspaper technique is generally used to treat large stains. This is commonly used for garage oil marks. Take several newspapers and spread several layers of paper over the area and soak paper with water and put a heavy object to it. Don’t remove these paper layers until the paper gets dry.

Chalk

Rubbing chalk over the spot on any fabric is the simplest way to get rid of these marks. Take a piece of white chalk and rub it well over the spatter, let this set for few minutes, then brush it off. If the mark is not completely gone, fearlessly repeat the process, as it doesn’t damage the delicate fabrics. Wash usually with water and detergent.

 Talcum powder

If you have time and patience and can wait at least for 6 hours, talcum powder will absorb all the oil from affected fabric. It can also remove spots from other surfaces like wallpaper and carpets. Sprinkle sufficient quantity of powder and brush it off after several hours. This can be repeated if it is required.

Salt

Table salt, when mixed with alcohol, can treat efficiently remove tough grease stains. Take one part of salt and mix it in four parts of alcohol. Rub this mixture hard on the spots, so that it absorb the gunk leaving the fabric clean. Wash it normally with water and suitable detergent.

Baking Soda

Last but not the least, baking soda has the magical efficiency to remove oily stains. Sprinkle to cover the spot and rub it gently with a brush. Wash it with warm water and detergent.
