04 6 reasons beer is good for you eyesight
“Our sight is the most perfect and most delightful of all our senses” –Joseph Addison

Albrecht Durer has coined the assertion that sight is the noblest sense of the man. It is the primary sense which allows the outside world to be perceived and interpreted by the mind, and it has also been known to be the windows of the soul. With all these considered a life without the sense of sight would be a dull, boring and dark world indeed. With this in mind, maintain a healthy eyesight and taking good care of our eyes should be paramount in our routines. This is especially true in an era of smartphones, and flat screen TV’s where every individual’s attention seems to be perpetually glued to the bright phone or computer screens. To ensure optimal eye health, one must regularly visit any optical clinic in the Philippines for checkups or visit a local ortho k in the Philippines if they use contact lenses in lieu of glasses. Here are more tips to ensure excellent eye health.

1.)    Give your eyes a break from time to time

If your work requires you to be staring at the glare of a computer screen for hours, take a break now and then. Allow your eyes to rest for a while and if the glare seems harsh or irritating, adjust the brightness. Additionally, it would help if when you get home, you will give your eyes a break from the work it has done all day. Instead of eye-straining activities such as watching TV, browsing social media on your phone or the like, rest your eyes for the time being.

2.)    Wear protective eyewear

Whenever you are playing sports or have some errands to do in the house that require the usage of heavy machinery, remember to always use protective eyewear. This will protect your eyes from little particles while protective eyewear for sports is used to safeguard the eyes from potential injury.

3.)    Get regular eye exams

This should go without saying, but just as you go for a yearly checkup to your doctor, so should you to your ophthalmologist or your optometrist. This is particularly the case for individuals with glasses and aging individuals. The grade of your lenses might gradually decrease and increase, and a new one might be prescribed for you. Aging individuals are recommended to visit the ophthalmologist regularly as some eye diseases develop with age.

4.)    Eat right

Eating right is generally advantageous for good health. However, the same can be said for your eye health. When it comes to protecting your eyes, a good start happens with what you put on your plate. All the praises for carrots and green leafy vegetables for good eyesight are not entirely unfounded. However, throw in oily fish such as tuna and salmon into the mix for a more diverse meal.

5.)     Do not smoke or quit smoking

Smoking is bad for your overall health. So, if you have begun to develop the habit, it is best to quit while you still can. However, it is even better if you do not start at all.  Smoking has been shown to be associated with developing cataracts, macular degeneration and optic nerve damage—all the more reason for you to never pick up the habit.

All in all, it is best to be more proactive about your eye health. It can be easy to neglect to visit the eye doctor regularly when you see well, but do not wait for symptoms to develop or your visions to get cloudy before you do. Remember, prevention is always better than cure.
